Depression, anxiety, loneliness, worry, loathing of self. These are some of the emotions that people who have grown up in dysfunctional households often carry with them. These feelings often develop because of enduring traumatic experiences, such as growing up with alcoholic parents, or experiencing violence or neglect in the home. Children from households like these often grow up to become adults that feel depressed, have low self-esteem and have difficulties setting healthy boundaries with themselves and others. Many people feel mentally stuck in their lives, unable to move on and truly feel happy. These feelings are completely normal, but that doesn’t make having them any easier.
Stuck in a loop is an exploration of feelings, experiences and stories from those who feel mentally stuck for different reasons. It is an attempt to showcase my own and others’ stories and thoughts through poetry and animation. My intention is to make these topics, that are about very dark and difficult matters, approachable to all kinds of people, in order to help contributing to a better understanding of mental health and people’s different experiences in the matter.
These GIFS are meant for sharing,

Your feelings are valid and real.

Copy, paste and send.
Send them to someone who needs to know,
Send them to a friend.
Expression is a part of healing,
Though the journey might be long,
Let’s try and get out of the loop together,
For together we are strong.
